Meaningful Moment

12 hours.

That's how long I was in bed last night. And 11 of it was sleeping. Got out of bed at 9:00 a.m., had some breakfast in the room and prepared my things and was out at 10:00 a.m.

I could do that because I knew it was a short day today of 10 or 11 miles.

Random Thought of the Day

Uh-oh, sinus infection. That's going to take the wind out of my sails.

And the near constant pavement up to this point, not to mention the cobblestones, are playing hell with my shins

When I did the Camino Portuguese in 2018, I had shin splits by the end of the trip, and I think it was directly attributable to pavement and cobblestone. That very last day was a cheat day, as I took a taxi the first half of the distance.

On the Road / Notable memories

Lots of forest and meadow time, so I was off the paved road far more than the last 2 days.

When I came past the Seddiner See, I was hoping for a great view of it on my right with a smaller lake on my left, but the fog pretty much closed everything off, so I didn't really see anything 😞 .

Everything was wet so it was hard to find a place to sit down and eat lunch. Ended up standing up to eat. But it was a good break. Something I didn't do the first two days, and I paid for it by the end of each of those days.

Moved with a quick pace today, somewhere around 2.5 miles per hour with a full backpack on.

Got into a supermarket and got me two bottles of vitamin drink, a banana, pineapple chunks and a turkey and egg sandwich for lunch on the road tomorrow.
