Things to See Along the Via Imperii

Sightseeing on the Via Imperii Jakobsweg

Description:

The Via Imperii Jakobsweg leaves Berlin along the Teltow Canal.

Teltow Canal, Berlin

My Camino de Santiago along the Via Imperii will wind through wide fields, dense forests, heath and pasture areas and a variety of different landscapes such as the Fläming Glacial Plateau and the Düben Heath.

In the 1980s, planners in Teltow rethought the process, listing historical monuments, and setting aside parts of the old town as area features.

It is a hall church with a nave and two aisles dating from the 15th century (or so it is believed) with an 86-m-tall tower built in the 19th century. Remnants of wall paintings from the late Middle Ages, a sacrament house made of sandstone and a carved altar (both from the 15th century) and a very nice baptismal font remain. Also worth seeing are the late Gothic town hall with its Renaissance additions and the old town wall from the 14th century, parts of which are still well preserved.
